On our Destination Guide pages we link to a number of the same websites on a regular basis.

Gay Travel

The Guide is a free monthly magazine distributed throughout North America. Not restricted to travel, the Guide has regular columns, reviews and articles on a range of topics of interest to gay men.

But travel is still the major focus of The Guide. Each month detailed articles on at least two cities appear. As well, you will find maps and listings for twenty popular destinations.

The Guide website reproduces virtually everything in its print version. The archive of travel articles, which are updated on a regular basis, is particularly useful. Click on the links within the article to get the address and website link to a particular establishment. The article is complimented by listings for bars, restaurants and accommodations.

Columbia Fun Maps are a familiar sight wherever free gay publications are distributed. The Maplewood, NJ publisher distributes brochures for the forty most popular gay destinations in North America. Fun Maps are a great way to find your way around town, partly because they fold up so compactly.

Each Fun Map starts with an introduction to the city. The map and accompanying index will prove useful in getting your bearings. While only establishments that advertise within the brochure are marked on the map, the directory does include addresses and phone numbers for all accommodations, bars, clubs, spas and other services. An events calendar will give you some ideas on what's happening on your visit.

The Fun Maps website has a drop down menu to quickly find the city you're researching. The map, directory and events calendar are available for download in pdf format (free Adobe Acrobat Reader required). The site also lists accommodations, bars and restaurants on its regular html pages but these include only advertisers; the downloadable directory, on the other hand, lists all establishments.

Friends - the Gaymap covers over 40 cities, mostly European. For each city there is a directory of bars, clubs and other services. Maps can be downloaded from the site in pdf format, but only advertisers are marked.

My Gay World is a new quarterly magazine which features several destinations in each issue. The My Gay World website provides an introduction to numerous gay destinations along with brief, selective accommodation and club listings.

Out and About covers the world through its TravelGuides series. While Out and About has been owned by PlanetOut Partners for several years, in 2005 it completely merged its content with Gay.com. Consequently, a subscription to Gay.com Premium Personals is now required to access the TravelGuides.

Some advantages to the TravelGuides:
- they carry no advertising.
- they rate accommodations by a uniform standard, "5 Palms" being the highest rating.
- their coverage is both broader and more detailed than free sources.
- your sex life is bound to improve as a member of Gay.com Premium Personals!

Pink Agenda is a Chicago-based site operated by Dr. Carlos Mock and Bill Rattan. The travel section of Pink Agenda provides information on over 40 cities. Most of the information is mainstream, for instance climate, currency and airport info. Lodging, dining, shopping and "things to see" are not particularly gay, but appeal to a gay aesthetic. Gay bars and community groups can be found under "Scene."
